The City Renewal Authority sought feedback on proposed designs for a new park at Acton Waterfront between October and December 2022. We wanted to understand what is important to you at Acton Waterfront and ensure our planning considered place-led principles for the activation of spaces, required amenity and connectivity for future residents.

Our vision is that Acton Waterfront will have two important roles:

  • A destination for everyday life
  • A major foreshore recreational destination for the broader Canberra community and tourists

To inform the draft design of the play space, the City Renewal Authority has used your feedback from our previous phases of consultation to consider what facilities and play elements are desired for the park and consider how it should look and feel.

In the latest phase of engagement, we gathered and recorded your feedback on:

  • The overall design of the park and test that the themes from our initial engagement are reflected in this stage of design
  • How we stage the construction of the first stage of the park and what you would like to see us prioritise
  • How we can activate the infill space for the future park, given the park construction will be staged over a number of years.

Thank you to everyone who has provided feedback. The Listening Reports and Consultation Report will be available in early 2023.

We will use your views to

During phase three, the City Renewal Authority shared proposed designs for the park and public spaces at Acton Waterfront, and sought feedback to help refine the designs.

We invite you to subscribe for notifications to continue your involvement as the project progresses.

It is expected the design will be finalised in early 2023, ready for construction to commence between 2023 and 2025, subject to a Works Approval process with the National Capital Authority.
