Focused Conversation: Carers

Join us for a focused conversation on for carers. We are developing a ten-year Disability Strategy to create a more welcoming and inclusive community, and improve the lives of the more than 80,000 Canberrans who identify as people with disability. We want to hear your ideas and experiences on and how the ACT should implement inclusive actions and activities which create change in our community. This focused conversation on Carers is part of our public listening campaign, to understand what our community wants to see included in the ACT Disability Strategy. We'll ask you to think about: • what a good life looks like • what the challenges are to having a good life, and • to share ideas on how to make it easier for people with disability to live the kind of life they want to live. Your views, experiences and insights will help inform the development of the ACT Disability Strategy. Community members who participate in any of the ACT Disability Strategy consultation events may be eligible to receive a $50 Community Participation Payment. This payment is not available to participants who are attending consultation events in a paid capacity (e.g. in paid work time). If you would like to enquire about your eligibility for the Community Participation Payment, please email OfficeforDisability@act.gov.au

Add background information about the event here. Things to include:

  • Why are you holding this event?
  • What project does it link to?
  • What will happen after the event?
  • How will you close the loop?
  • COVID safety considerations

You can also add participation activities to the page to encourage engagement with the event before people attend.

How to link your events to your project page

When you have created your event, you need to add an Events Feed to your project. We recommend you add it to a Project Sub-page so it doesn't clutter your main Project Page. Here's how you add the Events Feed:

  1. In Edit mode, click Tools and search for 'Events Feed'
  2. Click and drag the Events Feed tool on to your page
  3. Turn on Project Filter
  4. Search for your project's name in the list and select it
  5. Edit other details for the block as needed

You need to turn on the Project Filter so only events associated with your project appear. Otherwise, all events on the site will appear in your Events Feed.

Managing RSVPs

You can use Conversations for all your RSVP needs. Details below:

  1. Create a Sub-page.
  2. Add a Form tool to the page and include any questions you need to ask. These may be:
    • First and last name
    • Contact information (phone and email)
    • Short text field to ask if there's any special requirements needed
    • Date and time options if you're running more than one of the same event
    • Any other information you'd like to know before your event
  3. Send the Sub-page live (unless you've linked it somewhere, no-one can access it)
  4. Copy the Sub-page link
  5. Go to your Event Page settings
  6. Add the Sub-page link to the RSVP link field
  7. Submit the changes and check the link works

COVID safe events

If you're holding face-to-face events, make sure you're following the latest COVID-19 restrictions and event guidelines. More information about holding COVID safe events is on the COVID-19 website.

At the very least, we suggest registering your project or team for a Check In CBR QR code so you can ask the community to check in at your events.

You can also include messaging like this in your comms:

Please note that COVID-19 guidelines are in place. Make sure you:

  • Maintain physical distancing and good hygiene
  • Stay at home if you are unwell
  • Register to attend an event where asked
  • Download the Check in CBR app before attending any events, and check in when you arrive
  • Use hand sanitiser at events where it is provided.
