What is the Project Update Paper?

  • The Project Update Paper (7.9 MB) provides a summary of the technical work and consultation undertaken in 2021 and provides further detail on the reform pathway for 2022.
  • The Project Update also provides further detail on the proposed key elements of the reformed planning system.

Why are we providing a Project update?

  • Throughout 2021, EPSDD has continued the review and reform phases of the ACT Planning System Review and Reform Project (the Project).
  • We are providing a Project Update to keep stakeholders and interested people informed about the progress of the Project over the last 12 months.
  • We want to let you know the work we have been doing. Over the past 12-18 months there has been a focus on the technical work of identifying and developing the changes required to deliver on the Project reform an d policy directions. This technical work has been undertaken within EPSDD, working with other parts of Government and including independent technical input on some matters.
  • We also want to provide a look forward to the priority work we will be focussing on over the next 12 months.

What is happening next in the Project?

  • From 16 March to 15 June 2022, the project will focus on public consultation on the draft Planning Bill.
  • Throughout 2022, we will continue to develop and implement the key elements of the reformed planning system.
  • We are also continuing to progress work on draft district strategies and a new Territory Plan, and will undertake public consultation on these in late 2022.
