The ACT Government is calling for community input on the future community recreation park in Casey to ensure it meets the recreation needs of the community.

The Casey community recreation park will be located at the open space bounded by Plimsoll Drive and Yeend Avenue.

Community recreation parks typically feature a large open area of irrigated grass to support informal sport and outdoor physical activities in suburbs without a district playing field or government school oval. Toilets are usually provided to support longer visits.

A concept plan has been developed to show what's possible on the site but the final design will be informed by community feedback. The plan features a mix of facilities including a basketball court, a fitness equipment circuit, grassed amphitheatre and shade trees, an all abilities play space, picnic shelters and barbecue facilities.

The community recreation park will be an important high-quality addition to the recreation facilities currently available in Casey, which includes six modern playgrounds and an off-leash dog park. It will also complement existing and future recreation facilities in the Gungahlin region more broadly.

The Casey community recreation park will expand opportunities for outdoor recreation for people of all ages and abilities, catering to locals as well as attracting residents from a larger catchment.
