About the project

Our ACT public schools are shared community assets.

The ACT Government is committed to improving community access to ACT public schools, including outdoor recreational facilities.

We are exploring opportunities and barriers to community groups and individuals accessing outdoor recreational school facilities when not in use by schools.

The initial focus is on nine ‘hub’ schools selected to participate in the program.

These schools are Calwell Primary School, Canberra College, Erindale College, Evelyn Scott School, Gold Creek School, Hawker Primary School, Melba Copland College, Namadgi School and Telopea Park School.

How to have your say

The ACT Government invites the community, including children and young people, who live near to each participating school to provide information on their awareness of, and experience accessing outdoor recreational school facilities (outside of a hired basis). We want to know more about which facilities are used and how often, and any improvements to access by community.

Community Access Survey

To provide feedback on your experience accessing outdoor school facilities, please take the survey.

The impact of having your say

We will use this information to gain a better understanding of the awareness, needs and desires of the community to access outdoor recreational school facilities when not in use by schools, understand any potential opportunities and/or barriers to access, and to make any needed improvements to community access.

This valuable feedback will shape and improve future use of school assets by community.
