About the draft landscape plan

The draft landscape plan will inform the management of the grasslands space in a way that protects the conservation values of the reserve.

Franklin Grasslands must meet environmental offset commitments under the Nature Conversation Act to protect and conserve the natural and cultural values that exist there.

The draft landscape plan looks at how we can:

  • effectively manage the site for conservation
  • manage visitor access and behaviour in the reserve so that the community who use the reserve can enjoy the site without inadvertently impacting on its values
  • educate and engage local residents and the broader ACT community on the values of the Franklin Grasslands and the importance of grasslands more broadly, including links to nearby Mulanggari and Gungaderra Grasslands engendering a sense of care and value for these unique ecological communities.
