About the project

The Inner South Health Centre is one of four new health centres the ACT Government has committed to building across the Territory.

The centre will be located on the corner of Throsby Crescent and Throsby Lane in Griffith. This is adjacent to the Griffith Shops.

The government is in the early planning and design stages.

We are asking the community what services they would like to see available at this new health centre.

The new health centre in the Inner South will offer community-based services that are closer to home. It will also help support the delivery of other community services to support the changing health needs of the community.

Consultation is now open and you can have YourSay until 12 August 2024.

How to have your say

We are looking at

Where will the centre will be located?

A greenfield site in Griffith (Blocks 33, 34 and 39 Section 78 Griffith) has been chosen as the preferred site for the new health centre in the Inner South.

The site is near Griffith Shops.

What we have already heard

In 2022, ACT Health ran a series of community engagements to better understand what Canberrans want and need from public health services across the ACT.

The community engagement included multiple opportunities for the community to provide feedback on numerous elements of ACT health care services.

We heard that people want better access to:

We heard that most of the community are happy to receive health care wherever it is recommended to best suit their health issue, and many wanted to receive care close to home and at a centre in the community.

When we asked you to rank your top factors that influence your decision about where to access health services, you said:

We heard that most people said they strongly felt that there should be a mix of services at each health centre in the community.

FAQ

The impact of having your say

We will use your feedback to help finalise what services will be located at the health centre.

We will also be working with clinicians and consumers while using local health data to help this process.

Once the detailed design of the health centre is complete, it will move into the development application stage. This is expected in 2025.
