Background
Canberra’s beloved Manuka Oval celebrated its 100th anniversary in 2024.
The first ever event hosted at Manuka Oval back on 5 July 1924 was an Aussie Rules match between Canberra and Duntroon.
Over the years, the storied ground has etched itself into the city’s identity, serving as a crucible for countless enthralling games and unforgettable sporting moments. The venue has played host to a myriad of sports and events including boxing, wrestling, rugby league, tennis, cricket, baseball and athletics.
We invited the Canberra Community to share their memories, stories, images and footage of Manuka Oval over the past 100 years in recognition of the Centenary of this iconic Canberra venue. We wanted to hear about your family's experiences visiting the venue through the years to compile a rich community history of the 100 years of Manuka Oval.
We treasure any images, footage or stories shared with us, as they tell the story of not only Manuka Oval, but of sport, entertainment and the Canberra community over the past 100 years.
How you had your say
