The ACT Government has committed to providing a second supermarket in Mawson. To enable the release of land for this site, a Major Plan Amendment (MPA) will be lodged in 2026. As part of this, we are seeking community views to inform other upgrades to the existing Mawson Group Centre.

We want to understand how you live, shop and play in Mawson, and how you would like to see the shops and recreational facilities grow to support the existing and future Mawson community.

Mawson is included in the Athllon Precinct of the Southern Gateway study area. The draft Southern Gateway Planning and Design Framework (the Framework) is open for engagement. Any feedback you provide as part of the Mawson Group Centre engagement will be considered alongside other community feedback and used to help inform the final Framework. The City and Environment Directorate is also seeking community feedback on the proposed improvements to the public spaces around the Mawson Group Centre that will not form part of the Major Plan Amendment process. You can provide your feedback here.
