Kids

We want to hear your ideas for your library of the future. You can present your idea anyway you like – it could be a drawing, map, short story, poem or a picture – as long as it fits to one page or one image.

Think about these questions while creating your work:

  • Who is going to use your library?
  • Why do people visit your library? What do they want to do there?
  • Are they visiting the library in the daytime or at night?
  • What rooms does the library have and what do those rooms have in them?
  • What can you see through the library’s windows? Does it even have windows?!
  • What can you hear when you’re in the library? Does that make a difference to your idea?

Remember – your library is going to be there for a long time so make sure you think about the future as well as right now.

Once you’ve finished – get an adult to take a photo of your creation and upload it here. You need to make sure you have an adult’s permission to share your ideas online. Your ideas will also be part of an exhibition in the Woden Library later this year!

Parents and carers
  • You can submit your child’s idea to this page by clicking “Post your story” and clicking the “Photo” tab. Then follow the prompts to upload a photo of your child’s creation.
  • There is room to explain more about the image, and we ask that you include your child’s first name only and their age.
  • Please take care not to include your child’s full name or any personal information.
Where will the artworks be going?
  • These artworks will be considered as part of the overall community feedback that will shape the design plans for the Molonglo Valley library and community hub.
  • Draft concept plans will be shared with community in mid-2024 for further feedback.
  • The artworks will be displayed online and at a library branch as part of the second stage of engagement in 2024 for the community to enjoy.
