The ACT Government is bringing in changes to create vibrant entertainment precincts in the City Centre and Gungahlin. These changes include improved planning and building standards, adjustment to Noise Zone Standards and noise complaints management.

Entertainment precincts are areas where nightlife character and activities, like live music, are prioritised and supported. By having defined entertainment precincts and standards, the ACT Government is providing greater certainty to patrons, businesses, residents, industry and building owners.

Current Noise Zone Standards in the ACT need to be updated for the City Centre and Gungahlin entertainment precincts to invigorate nightlife now and into the future. The Noise in Entertainment Precincts Discussion Paper details current Noise Zone Standards and possible future scenarios.
