In October 2016, you were asked to submit ideas for a new number plate slogan. Canberrans outdid themselves with 1,875 ideas submitted and, in January 2017, you voted for your favourite from a selected shortlist.

In March 2017, the Chief Minister announced your preferred plates, 'Canberra - The Bush Capital'.

More than 8,000 votes were made for a new slogan and to keep an existing slogan - ‘Canberra The Nation’s Capital’.

The new slogan, and the one remaining existing slogan, are now available for Canberra drivers to choose from and will streamline the number plate system in the ACT with the other existing slogans phased out.

At the end of 2017, it was also announced that Canberrans could celebrate equality with new rainbow number plates now available through Access Canberra.
