Public consultation for this project has now closed.
We are looking at:
The Civic Square Precinct was provisionally listed on the ACT Heritage Register for its social and cultural values as an important central location and open space for public use, celebrations and cultural events and for expressions of democratic freedoms through protest, as well as being the location of local administration and cultural facilities since the 1960s with a modernist design that compliments the Griffin plan and focuses on civic use.
The Heritage Council called for public comment on the provisional listing through a survey between 24 September and 21 of October 2019.
The public comments helped develop the Council’s initial view that the Civic Square Precinct is significant to the ACT for social and cultural values as an important central location and open space for public use, celebrations and cultural events and for expressions of democratic freedoms through protest.
The Civic Square Precinct has now been registered. Please visit the ACT Legislation Register website for more details about the registration.
