How to have YourSay:
To reflect our growing capital and the significant change in the region over the past few decades, the ACT Government will be reviewing the emblems which represent and celebrate the Australian Capital Territory.
A YourSay Community Panel revealed which symbols Canberrans thought best represented the ACT. The top four results were:
- Brindabella mountains
- Gang-gang cockatoo
- Royal Bluebell
- Mulleun Eagle (Little Eagle).
Work is underway on the next stages of the development of the Territory Coat of Arms insignia.
The final design will be open for public vote.

We are looking at:
The ACT Government recognises the importance of our symbols and emblems as a reflection of our values as a society. An insignia or Territory Coat of Arms is being developed as a response to the recommendations from the Inquiry into a Territory Coat of Arms by the Standing Committee on Environment and Transport and City Services in 2019.
In consultation with the community and in partnership with the University of Canberra, a Territory Coat of Arms or Insignia is being developed to represent our diverse, modern, and inclusive Territory. This will be a new addition to the suite of emblems and insignia we use to promote and celebrate the ACT, which already includes the City of Canberra Coat of Arms and many others.
Please email enquiries to askus@yoursay.act.gov.au.
The ACT Government is also considering a review of the ACT Flag. Stay involved in the project by following the page or joining the YourSay Community Panel.
We will use your views to:
Inform the development of the new Territory Coat of Arms and the design we select to become our new emblem.
