About the project

Whitlam School’s Principal Felicity Levett is looking forward to opening the school’s doors in 2027 and is excited to work with the community as the school progresses towards its opening.

In finalising the look and feel of the school, Felicity is excited to hear what the local school community thinks of the provided options for the school logo design. There are three logos that are being considered – please click through the below survey to see them in both their colour and monochrome versions. We want to hear your thoughts about your preferred logo choice.

The below survey is open until 19 August 2026.

Shine a light

This logo concept depicts the sun rising over the hills and waterways of Whitlam.

The logo was created using hands-on craft techniques to explore the ideas of observation and connection to landscape.

Molonglo from here to there

The shape of the logo reflects the curves of the Molonglo River as it passes through the suburb of Whitlam.

The dots at the beginning and end of the river shape symbolise people and the journey that lies ahead of them, and the stories that they can look back on.

Let's build this together

This playful idea brings different shapes together to create the letter W.

The free-form lines are inspired by kids’ drawings at a recent Whitlam School community gathering.

We asked the children ‘what makes a great school?’ and they really want slides and monkey bars.

Background information

Whitlam School in the Molonglo Valley is the ACT’s newest public primary school and early childhood education and care centre. Named after former Prime Minister Gough Whitlam, like the new suburb of Whitlam it’s located in, the new school will open in 2027 (opening year groups to be advised).
