What we're looking at

Stage 2B is the Territory’s biggest infrastructure project and a once-in-a-generation asset for Canberra. It will be designed to sensitively integrate with its surrounding environment across five distinct precincts.

The project will apply a set of design principles to support decision-making about key features, benefits, impacts and important aspects of the light rail design. This will all be outlined as part of an Environmental Impact Statement (EIS).

What is an EIS?

An EIS is a comprehensive assessment of the environmental benefits and impacts a project may have on its surroundings. An EIS:

  • describes the current environment of the project area;
  • looks at the anticipated benefits and impacts of the project,
  • outlines management strategies to avoid or reduce potentially adverse impacts during construction and operation; and
  • outlines management strategies to enhance positive outcomes during construction and operation.

When complete, the EIS will help the Australian Government, the ACT Government and the community understand if potential project impacts and opportunities have been addressed appropriately.

How to have your say

Each precinct page below outlines the different project elements being considered, as the EIS and concept design is progressed for that area. Complete the survey for any or all precincts that matter to you.

How your feedback will be used

Your feedback will be used to inform the EIS and the project's design principles, both of which will help shape the project's plans and design.
