Learn about the features included as part of the proposed Cooyong Street upgrade.

The concept design masterplan for the Cooyong Street upgrade balances the diverse needs of the community, focusing on welcoming public spaces and pedestrian-friendly features, and improving connectivity between the City Centre and Braddon with minimal impact to vehicle traffic. It includes:

  • increased green space and an approx. 10% increase in tree canopy cover
  • less clutter and improved pedestrian and cyclist flow
  • better accessibility, lighting, and other safety features
  • safe and secure crossings at intersections.

North-south connectivity will be improved through quicker pedestrian and cyclist crossing times at Cooyong Street. Through reducing the width of the road, traffic light phasing, and introduction of more trees and landscaping, crossing the street can be faster and more enjoyable – drawing people through and improving north-south connectivity.
