Upgrades are coming to the public spaces at the Lanyon Marketplace on the corner of Box Hill Avenue and Tharwa Drive. These upgrades will improve access and the overall look and feel, encouraging the community to shop local and spend more time in their suburbs.
Thank you to everyone who provided feedback on the below preliminary design. Feedback is now being reviewed and will be used to finalise the design for construction.
Key features
The preliminary design below includes the following key features:
- new seating providing spaces to sit and gather
- additional trees and better landscaping
- improved access for pedestrians including paths, pram ramps and safe crossing points
- new raised intersection at Balcombe and Sidney Nolan streets including a new pedestrian crossing
- additional parking spaces on Sidney Nolan Street
- upgraded stairway, new mural and lighting in the Box Hill Avenue underpass
- new shade structure and plantings at the skate park.
