The next steps

Florey dry land oval

The ACT Education Directorate invited the Florey Primary School community, including the school’s students, to have their say to help shape the future elements of a portion of Florey Oval adjacent to the school campus. A ‘What We Heard’ Report summarising the community feedback was published on 31 October 2022.

The concept design is shaped by feedback from students and local community, received during the public consultation process which closed in September. It was further developed during November in consultation with the school and representatives of the Ngunnawal community.

The concept design to refresh a portion of the Florey Oval is available below and we asking for your feedback to help us further refine the designs. You can download the concept design here.

If you would like to provide your feedback directly to an ACT Government representative, come along to a pop-up engagement session:

  • Session 1: Tuesday 7 February from 3:00pm – 5:00pm at Florey Primary School
  • Session 2: Saturday 11 February from 10:00am – 12:00pm at Florey Shops

Feedback closes Wednesday 15 February 2023. You can also email your comments to act.education@act.gov.au.

Designs will be finalised in February 2023 and construction will begin in 2023.

Your feedback now will help us further refine the designs, email your comments to act.education@act.gov.au.

Feedback closes Wednesday 15 February 2023.

Community members were invited to have their say

We invited the community, including children and young people, to have their say through a survey to help shape the future elements of this area. A summary of the feedback is available to view in the ‘What We Heard’ Report.

Our intention is to refresh a portion of this open public space creating an accessible natural environment for all ages to enjoy.

Why an oval refresh?

The Education Directorate will refresh a portion of the Florey dry land oval to maximise outdoor space for students at Florey Primary School.

We have already heard some great ideas from the school community and through this YourSay, we hope to hear more ideas from the school community and wider community to shape this oval's future.

The ACT Government is committed to delivering natural open spaces that promote a healthier lifestyle for students and the community, providing habitats for wildlife and to mitigate climate change impacts.

The Education Directorate is working closely with Transport Canberra and City Services (TCCS) on this project and feedback received through this engagement will help shape future plans for the oval.

Planning, design, construction and maintenance will be undertaken in partnership with Florey Primary School, local community, Transport Canberra and City Services (TCCS), Environment, Planning and Sustainable Development Directorate (EPSDD) and other interested stakeholders.

How your comments will shape the project

Your feedback will shape the design, planning and future of Florey dry land oval.
