How to have YourSay

Florey dry land oval

Public spaces are the glue that holds communities together. Walkable, accessible and well-designed open spaces can allow people to relax, exercise, meet, play, chat, connect and enjoy the natural environment.

The Education Directorate is looking to refresh a portion of the Florey dry land oval to provide a new natural outdoor area for students at Florey Primary School who use this space every day.

Community members are invited to have their say

We invite community, including children and young people, to have their say through this survey to help shape the future elements of this area. Our intention is to refresh this open public space creating an accessible natural environment for all ages to enjoy.

Draft designs will be shared with the community for comments before they are finalised.

Why an oval refresh?

The Education Directorate will refresh a portion of the Florey dry land oval to maximise outdoor space for students at Florey Primary School.

We have already heard some great ideas from the school community and through this YourSay, we hope to hear more ideas from the school community and wider community to shape this oval's future.

The ACT Government is committed to delivering natural open spaces that promote a healthier lifestyle for students and the community, providing habitats for wildlife and to mitigate climate change impacts.

The Education Directorate is working closely with Transport Canberra and City Services (TCCS) on this project and feedback received through this engagement will help shape future plans for the oval.

Planning, design, construction and maintenance will be undertaken in partnership with Florey Primary School, local community, Transport Canberra and City Services (TCCS), Environment, Planning and Sustainable Development Directorate (EPSDD) and other interested stakeholders.
