Express your interest in the Light Rail To Woden Community Reference Group

The Light Rail to Woden Community Reference Group is one of the methods used to proactively engage with Canberrans on the design, construction and delivery of light rail. The Group membership is made up of representative organisations, peak bodies and individuals with an interest in the benefits, impacts and opportunities of light rail.

The purpose of the Group is to improve understanding of community considerations, issues, concerns and social and environmental priorities relating to the Light Rail to Woden project.

Join the Community Reference Group

Contribute to the Light Rail to Woden project by joining its Community Reference Group.

As a member, you would provide a voice for your community during light rail construction, design and delivery.

The project is seeking Expressions of Interest from groups and individuals who can represent their community’s views to the project and relay and share information with their community.

About the Group

The Group facilitates consultation and two-way information sharing between Major Projects Canberra and representatives of the Canberra community.

The Light Rail to Woden project will provide a safe and respectful space for all members to share their views, experiences and insights.

The Group’s role is to:

  • Provide a voice for Canberrans in light rail construction, design and delivery
  • Represent community views on issues, impacts and opportunities, and share insights and ideas with the project team
  • Relay and share project updates with their organisation and community, and consult where possible and appropriate on issues discussed and raised in the Group
  • Act as a community champion committed to helping the government deliver a light rail network that has listened and considered community feedback

What to expect:

As a Community Reference Group member, you will:

  • Meet with the Group every two months to learn about, consult and collaborate on the Light Rail to Woden project
  • Collaborate directly with the project team to provide your community’s views on the design, construction and delivery of the project
  • Participate in activities in a safe and welcoming space to improve project outcomes, and
  • Meet and hear the views of a diverse group of Canberrans

The Group will come together every two months depending on project milestones and the requirements of the Group. Meetings will be held after business hours on a weekday to accommodate broad participation.

The Group’s activities will consist of formal group meetings and activities such as workshops, brainstorms, or site visits.

The Group is for consultation and collaboration purposes and is not responsible for decision-making on the project. The Light Rail to Woden project will take reasonable actions to incorporate the views, ideas and advice provided by the Group.
