Stage 2B EPBC referral 2024
In early 2024, the ACT Government made a submission to the Australian Government under the Environmental Protection and Biodiversity Conservations (EPBC) Act.
The new EPBC referral expanded the scope of the previous referral to examine alternative stops in the National Triangle and Barton to ensure the project could remain flexible as planning work progresses.
The referral was open for public comment for 10 business days from 1 March 2024 to 18 March 2024.
The Australian Government’s referral decision was made as a ‘controlled action’. This means that further assessment of potential benefits and impacts is required. The method of assessment is an Environmental Impact Statement.
