Early Education and Care

Starting Blocks Website
  • Find early childhood education and care services across Canberra. Eligible families may receive the Child Care Subsidy (fees apply).
Free Preschool for 3-Year-Olds
  • Up to 300 hours/year of free preschool available at over 140 services across Canberra, including 18 in the Inner South.
Support for Vulnerable Children
  • Children experiencing vulnerability or disadvantage can access 2 days/week of free early childhood education. ACT Government and community organisations identify priority children.
Koori Preschool
  • For Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children aged 3–5. Available at 5 ACT public preschools. Children under 3 may attend with a parent.
  • Closest location: Narrabundah Early Childhood School.

Equity Fund
