Current services for alcohol, tobacco and other drugs and sexually transmissible infections and blood borne viruses.


Directions Health "Chat to PAT" Mobile Outreach Van

  • Purpose-built mobile health clinic that attends Oaks Estate fortnightly
  • Provides wraparound support to marginalised Canberrans who cannot otherwise easily access health services. Staffed by a GP, nurse, and counsellor, it provides a range of services, including mental health support, alcohol and other drug services, and general medical care.
  • Mobile service removes barriers to accessing traditional clinic-based care

Hepatitis ACT Testing and Support

  • Provides biannual hepatitis testing and support at Oaks Estate in partnership with CAHMA
  • Targeted health screening for at-risk populations
  • Integrated service delivery model working through established community connection

Canberra Alliance for Harm Minimisation and Advocacy (CAHMA)

  • Hosts fortnightly barbecues at Oaks Estate providing community engagement and support with the Chat to PAT" Mobile Outreach clinic.
  • Provides take home naloxone medication and training to prevent opioid overdose.
  • Distributes needle and syringe packages during scheduled outreach visits
  • Provides safe disposal services and access to sterile equipment to reduce transmission of bloodborne viruses such as hepatitis C.
  • Operates in coordination with other health services to maximise community reach

Mental Health - Current Community Services

Youth & Wellbeing Program – Marymead CatholicCare

  • Outreach for ages 15–25 with mental health challenges.
  • Case management, therapeutic support, and skill-building.

Commonwealth Psychosocial Support Program (CPSP) – Woden Community Service

  • For people with serious mental health impacts not covered by NDIS.
  • Focus on recovery and independent living.
  • Funded by Capital Health Network (PHN). Extended to June 2027.

Transition to Recovery (TRec) – Woden Community Service

  • Short-term (up to 12 weeks) intensive outreach post-crisis.
  • Step Up/Step Down model with after-hours support.

Detention Exit Community Outreach (DECO) – Wellways

  • Up to 18 months of support for people exiting detention.
  • Help with reintegration, legal compliance, and service access.

Transition to Recovery (TRec) – Woden Community Service

  • Short-term (up to 12 weeks) intensive outreach post-crisis.
  • Step Up/Step Down model with after-hours support.
  • ACT & Commonwealth funded.

MOST – Orygen

  • Digital therapy for ages 12–25.
  • Combines online therapy, peer support, and clinical guidance.

  • Youth portal to navigate Canberra’s mental health services.
