City Renewal sought your ideas and input on a concept masterplan outlining future public space upgrades in the Dickson centre.
A concept master plan is a big plan for the future. It helps us know what to do and when to do it, so we can grow and improve the area.
The concept masterplan identifies future improvements to Challis Street, Antill Street (minor), Woolley Street, Cape Street, Badham Street and Dickson Place. It also defines the character of the streetscapes and identifies design principles and materials.
Building on the Dickson Place Plan, the concept masterplan will establish a clear and inspiring vision for future development, ensuring that it aligns with the overarching goals and aspirations of the community.
Whilst the Dickson Group Centre is undergoing significant transformation, it remains a vital part of Canberra's heritage and a hub of diversity, commerce, and community.

Background
The Dickson Group Centre is one of Canberra’s oldest shopping and dining areas. The central community meeting place comprises a diverse range of public spaces, including:
- The family-friendly Dickson shops
- The thriving Woolley Street's Eat Street
- The commercial business hub along Challis Street and Northbourne Avenue
- The surrounding tree-lined residential neighbourhood.
The concept masterplan will enhance these spaces, supporting Dickson’s rapidly growing residential and employment population, as well as complementing private investment in the area.
Our renewal of Dickson is being guided by the local community to make sure it remains a unique and much-loved public space. This includes supporting dining, shopping and other business activities.
