The relocated playground on the Lyons oval has a unique theme which revolves around the forest ecosystem. The forest theme will create a playful and colourful play space which references autumn foliage colour of the surrounding tree plantings of Pistacia, Prunus and Fraxinus. The play space is adjacent to a recently planted row of deciduous trees, the theme will be developed through additional tree plantings to create a vibrant mini forest.
The forest theme is highlighted by:
- Tree and leaf motifs on concrete paths to encourage imaginative play
- Painted games on new concrete surfaces
- Forest graphics on play equipment
- New trees and plantings
- Sculptural log carving.
