Lyons oval play space
Project overview
The indicative final design for the Lyons oval play space has been released.
The community were invited to provide feedback in September 2022 on a significant upgrade to the Lyons oval play space in Lyons. This included what play elements and equipment the community would like to see. Following this, feedback was analysed and preliminary sketch plans were developed for further community feedback in May 2023. The indicative final design incorporates feedback from this second phase of engagement.
Lyons oval play space is being upgraded with key features including:
- relocation of the existing playground closer
to the shops, near the underpass on Launceston Street with a new path
connection to the play space
- nature play journey with timber and stilt
steppers, boulders and timber balance log
- nest swing with rubber softfall (all ages
and abilities)
- combination unit with slide and climbing
elements (ages 0-17)
- drum (all ages and abilities)
- monkey bars, twirl bars and balance ropes
(ages 5-17)
- centrally located seating and picnic
shelter
- shade sail
- plants and trees.
We looked at
Earlier this year we received 178 pieces of feedback in total via the online survey, email, social media and a face to face pop up. This feedback informed the preliminary design for the Lyons Oval play space which we shared with the community in mid-2023 ahead of finalising the design for construction.
