Got a little idea that can make a BIG impact?

We are calling for ideas that could make a big difference to helping the community of Richardson to feel more connected and resilient.

Anyone with a connection to Richardson can submit their idea. Whether it is a street library, fitness or cooking classes, a playgroup, an event or series of activities, we would love to hear it.

The winning idea will receive up to $40,000 so you can make it a reality.

See the information below on what types of ideas are eligible, how to submit, and more.

Drive change in your community

There are three ways to get involved:

  • Submit an idea
  • Register to join the Community Panel
  • Vote for your favourite idea

Local decision making

The Richardson community owns the final decision on which idea becomes a reality.

Once we’ve received your great ideas, members of a Community Panel made up of locals will get together to assess them. They will work together to come up with a shortlist of three ideas.

Then those three ideas will go out for the Richardson community to vote on.

Voting will be online here on this page, as well as in person - click +Follow at the top of the page to receive updates on where you can vote.

Important note

This project is not to designed to address concerns about infrastructure, roads, trees, or noise. If you would like to raise concerns about things like this with the ACT Government, please visit Fix My Street and fill in the form.

More details

Ideas that are eligible will go to the Richardson community for decision making and voting.

To decide which ideas are eligible, an ACT Government working group will look through them to see how they:

  • Fit within a budget of $40, 000 or less;
  • Can be completed within 12 months;
  • Compliment or compete with other projects in Richardson; and
  • Can be driven by community.

If your idea doesn't fit this time, keep an eye on other ACT Government grants available here - https://www.act.gov.au/grants

Ideas will not be able to go to the Richardson community for decision making and voting if they:

  • Exclude people or groups;
  • Use the ACT Government funds to supply alcohol;
  • Won't be implemented in Richardson or suburbs next to Richardson;
  • Have already received ACT Government funding of more than $5,000; or
  • Propose activities that are illegal or offensive.

We suggest you read the guide before submitting your idea.

You can download the idea submission form here or submit your idea online.

You’re welcome to get creative and submit your idea with a video, a digital design together, or an image of what your idea could look like. These options could be as well as or instead of the written information, as long as all the questions are answered.

A Community Panel of Richardson residents and stakeholders will be provided with all of the eligible ideas.

If you would like to register your interest in joining the Community Panel, you can download the registration form here or submit your registration form online.

The Richardson Community Panel will then participate in a workshop to shortlist the ideas down to three considering how the ideas:

  • Can improve connection and resilience in Richardson;
  • Provide opportunities for community members;
  • Make the most of local skills and networks; and
  • Can be driven by community.

The three shortlisted ideas will go to the Richardson community to vote. People will be able to vote in person or online.

The person or group who submits the idea that gets the most votes will receive an email within seven days to let them know their idea has been selected. This email will provide information on the next steps to bring the idea to life.

People or groups who do not win the public vote will receive an email within 10 days to let them know.

We want to hear from as many people as possible. If you need extra support or help with your submission please reach out at askus@yoursay.act.gov.au.

The person or group with the winning idea will be supported by the ACT Government to make their idea a reality with:

  • Project planning help;
  • Budgeting, reporting and money management; and
  • Coaching or advice if it's needed.
